Project Evaluation
Your Strengths:
Creative Strengths :
I am open to exploring new styles of music. This was shown within my composition when I had chosen to do country as my genre. This allowed me to come out of my comfort zone more with a style of genre I have never played before and allowed me to have more creative freedom within my composition process.
I can learn songs quick. This was shown when I had to learn a new song within a short time frame due to members of the band not being 100% confident with the song previous. This was also shown during our genre swap song, and I had managed to learn a bass line that was challenging to me within a handful of lessons. This shows I am good at learning songs in a short time frame.
Professional Strengths
One of my professional strengths is I’m very organised. I had made a list of everyone playing within the gig and then figuring out the time frame for the gig and then working on allocating each act with a certain time frame.
Another one of my professional skills is my communication skills. I had made sure to keep everyone updated with any changes within the gig which meant we would have very little problems on the night.
Areas for Development:
Creative Areas for Development
On area for improvement would be having to ask for help within my composition. To improve this for next time I can learn how to play various instruments to help the with process.
Another thing is not being able to play basslines properly this is due to me not being able to play anything too complex. I will fix this by starting to learn songs which are more complex.
Professional Areas for Development
Throughout the project I had put a lot of pressure on myself throughout the project which meant I had made myself ill while trying to keep up with deadlines. To help make sure this does not happen again I will work on stuff little by little instead of all at once.
Another professional area for development is that I would get distracted a lot. This meant I would easily fall behind with my work and then struggle to catch up.
What Worked Well:
What Went Well Creatively
Choosing songs that we all liked helped as this allowed us to be more motivated to learn and play.
The variety of songs worked well with the theme of the genres gig as we had a wide variety.
What Went Well Professionally
Me and Hannah set up the venue to cater the audience from having a variety of table and rows for everyone.
We kept an eye on the time to track if any sets went over the running order incase we had to make any changes.
What Did Not Work Well:
What Did Not Work Well Creatively:
The process of choosing songs as we had argued a lot about it as we all had different ideas for what we had wanted to do.
My choice of composition did not work well as it was too far out of my comfort zone, so I was completely lost on where to start and how to make it sound up to the standard of the genre.
What Did Not Work Well Professionally:
As a band we did not have very good communication skills which meant we would put off choosing songs which led to use having disagreements and having to learn songs close to the gig.
We would all also get distracted easily by things like keyboard sounds and then how things should be played which led to us being more behind.
